The NPCN-8350: One Tool, 5 Fasteners, Seamless Productivity
The NailPro NPCN-8350 is a specialty combination tool most commonly used to drive 2”-3 ½” wire coil ASTM compliant roofing nails for wood framing and NailPro ICCES compliant ballistic pins for steel framing.
However, this tool is designed to do so much more.
The NailPro NPCN-8350 is not a simple roofing/framing tool. It is designed to drive 5 different fasteners. That makes this tool versatile, efficient, and a huge time saver. Users can switch between loads of roofing nails, siding nails, framing nails, ballistic pins, and reversible nails.
Built for versatility, the NPCN-8350 handles 5 different applications with a simple load change with NO tool adjustments needed!
One tool, five fasteners, endless possibilities. Let’s explore each of the five fasteners compatible with the NPCN-8350 and explore the most common uses.
First on the list is coil roofing nails. This tool will shoot roofing nails from 2” to 3 ½” x .120 & .131 shank diameters. Typical roofing nail applications include:
- Ridge vents and high cap ridge vents
- Multi-family construction projects, one and two-hour firewall, and party walls
- Fire-rated rigid insulation for walls and roofs.
- Densglass to wood. The tool is designed to drive 2 1/2" x .120 roofing nails, meeting GP Densglass installation guidelines that require a minimum of 2 3/8" nails for attaching to 2-hour firewalls.
The second fastener that is compatible with the NPCN-8350 is 15° wire coil ballistic pins. This tool will fire 2” - 3 ½” x .100 or .145 knurled pins. Typical Ballistic pin applications include:
· Installing foam board insulation panels to steel framing with optional 1-7/8” poly washers or metal 1 ¼” stucco washers
· Attaching Dens Glass to steel framing. Ballistic pins are compliant with Georgia Pacific Dens Glass installation guidelines for nationwide one and two-hour firewall in the USA.
Third we have 15° wire coil siding nails. This tool is compatible with siding nails .093 x 2” up to 3-1/2”. Typical siding nail applications include installation of:
· Wood trim and planks
· James Hardie Boards
· Hardie Planks
The fourth fastener that is compatible with the NPCN-8350 is 15° wire coil framing nails. This tool shoots coil framing nails up to 3 ½” long with a .162 shank diameter. Typical framing nail applications include:
· Installing windows to wood framing. Proven to increase production times 50%+ !
· Installing Foam board Insulation panels to wood framing
The final fastener this tool drives is reversible nails. NailPro makes reversible nails with star heads that can be unscrewed from wood frames using square drive or Phillip’s bits and power screwdrivers. Reversible nails have many uses including attaching 5/8" plywood subfloors to wood studs.
Application Highlight: Huber Engineered Wood Installation
The NPCN-8350 is compliant with Huber Engineered Wood installation specs for attaching Zip R sheathing panels to wood framing. NailPro tool specialist, Bob Hill was on site in the Huber Wood R& D facility in Georgia. As he was conducting assembly testing with their 8 engineers, he found that they were impressed with the tool’s versatility. They were pleased to see the NPCN-8350 would work for applying their panels to steel framing using ballistic pins and with a simple load change was also able to attach 2-1/2" roofing nails to install their 2 hour firewalls to wood. One tool for both ballistic pins and roofing nails!
Steel-framed panels were assembled using ICC-ES compliant NailPro 15° wire coil knurled ballistic pins with ½” penetration into steel framing. NailPro 3” x .131 wire coil ASTM roofing nails were used to assemble Zip R sheathing insulated panels to wood framing. Both fasteners were used for assembly and tested at the Huber Engineered Woods Research Center in Georgia.
