Description

316 Stainless Steel - Wood Screws

  • Salt Water Safe
  • Type 17 notched point for fast penetration
  • Self-countersinking bugle head
  • Square drive recess reduces driver cam-out
  • Threaded approximately 2/3 of shank on most sizes
  • Deep coarse threads for better hold
  • Use with cedar, redwood, engineered wood and preservative treated
*Type 316 Stainless Steel should always be specified for salt water applications.

316 grade stainless steel has a lower carbon content than 18-8 type stainless (302HQ, 304 and 305) and contains molybdenum for superior corrosion resistance in salt water and other highly corrosive environments. It is the grade of stainless steel to be specified in any seaside application to prevent rusting & bleeding through.

Important Installation Instructions:

If the screws are to be driven by a screw gun, be sure the bit is securely seated in the square recess of the screw. Start slowly and gradually increase speed until the head is driven flush. A high driving speed increases the chance of stripping the square drive recess. If the tool has an adjustable torque collar, use a piece of scrap lumber to determine the proper setting needed to drive the head flush with the surface. This will prevent twisting off the screw head.

    Recent purchase

The SS screws I purchase were great we never had one snap out of the 1300 bought. They were delivered a day early and the price was competitive. Only concern I have is that I ordered 316 grade but received 306. Did not notice that on the package until we had the majority installed, my fear is they will not hold up to salt water like the 316 has. Thanks for asking

Owner Response: Glad they worked out! Sorry about the error - We have reached out to you directly about the difference in stainless grade to take care of this.

    S/S 316 Deck Screws

This is my second order of two sizes to replace/ reinstall original deck screws in Outer Banks beach house. Original galvanized screws were deteriorating after 20 years. Selected Manasquan Fasteners as my material source and have been most pleased with product quality and quick delivery time.

    Screws

Customer service with this company was great. My order was received very rapidly and without issue. The screws themselves have a square drive head and given the length were difficult to drive without stripping the socket and the drive bit. Once I found the right size pre-drill i drilled all the holes and countersunk them and that problem was solved. Using an impact driver made a big difference and a high quality square drive impact tool bit was also helpful.

    Great Product Good Service

Talked to the owners there and they were very helpful in helping me choose the correct fastener for the floor in my 87 19ft Seaswirl Sport. Shipping was fast. Very happy with my purchase. High quality product.

    Screw heads are too shallow

I didn't count exactly but, a minimum of 5% of the square screw heads were too shallow and were thrown away. Even with a fresh screw and my 200 pounds leaning against the driver tip, it would start spinning in the head. I used the screws in a fence project using cypress lumber which is quite soft. I ordered a 5 pack of new driver bits with the screws just to make sure I wouldn't have any problems. I changed out the driver bits every 100 screws and still had the problem. I tried a drill driver and impact driver with no change. 5% may not sound like much until you look at the price of these.

Owner Response: We are sorry about your experience. This is the first time we have encountered someone with this experience with these screws. We have reached out to you to make it right.
