When selecting a self-drilling screw for penetrating through steel studs or other light steel projects, type 410 stainless is a must. Type 305 and 316 stainless cannot be case hardened and don't have the ability to penetrate steel. Type 410 is a case hardenable steel, providing a good balance between anticorrosion and steel penetration ability.
